What’s Going On?

Jan-01-2024: Getting ready for Next Fest!

With Christmas and New Year’s Day out of the way, I’ve decided to start keeping track of how game development is going somewhere because, hey, someone might like to see what’s happening! Besides, it’s about time really...

Well, here’s the exciting news - Steam’s Next Fest takes place at the start of February, so I figured what better opportunity is there to share a playable demo of Normal Fishing with the world? January is going to be a tough month working hard on the game and getting everything in place so that the demo is fun, as bug-free as possible and makes an impact with players (see accompanying image of Mr. Fishman expressing how I’m feeling). That said, most of the demo is finished and ready to go, but I’m working on making the ending impactful enough to really get players excited about what’s coming in the full release. This is going to be the first time that players will get some hands-on experience with Normal Fishing, so making sure that we catch the attention of the right people means everything to us.

While I’ve basically been a solo developer up to this point, I’ve given the responsibility of the game’s sound and music to the genius guys at dBXY who absolutely knocked it out of the park on my previous game, Ten Rooms, Ten Seconds. Honestly though, in a game like Normal Fishing, having fantastic audio to create the right atmosphere is absolutely vital. The guys (Levi and Dave) have been working really hard to honour the game’s retro-inspired aesthetic while still giving the audio a modern edge. I’m really proud of how it’s all coming together, and I hope anyone who plays the demo gets to appreciate the effort they’ve put in. In fact, why don’t you take a moment to appreciate the chill vibes of your very first day of fishing right now? Lay back in your boat, close your eyes, and relax… while you still can.

Anyway, that’s all I have to share for now. Normal Fishing is a crazy, weird game that is deceptively dark, and once people get their hands on the demo, I hope they can get a glimpse of what lies beneath, and what might be coming when they see the game for what it really is…

Loveyoubye!
